Bridges Auditorium Main Lobby

This audio was uploaded January 10, 2015.

This reverberation is sustained for an amazing 4 seconds from initial impulse to resolving ambient dB rating.

The acoustics of this space have an amazing response to sound at a high decibel. The initial popping of the balloon peaks at 90.13dB and sustains resonance in the space for 3.52 seconds. A decrease in 30dB’s of volume take a miraculous 1.65 seconds to decay. The next -20db’s take another 1.74 seconds to decay until finally resolving to an average ambient dB reading teetering between 24 and 25dB.

Walter’s Restaurant Main Dining Area

This audio was uploaded January 10, 2015. First window seat when entering, nearest to the register.

In this sound recording you can hear the chattering of many conversations. From the first seat to the right of the entry way, the recording displays a tolerable auditory environment with very few interruptions in the average frequency of the dining space. All of the cross talk creates a somewhat of a grey noise by the way the acoustics of the room cause the tonal qualities of every sound to reverberate a a quickly dissipating rate. The psychoacoustics of the space create the illusion of an equal loudness of all the sounds in the space because of their close proximity in frequency range. From time to time you can hear the spike of sharp sounds whose index alludes to the sound of silverware.
